Cameo Party

A beautiful Cameo Cake baked  for a 50 years birtday by my friend Katia.
The vintage cameos are made by hand engraving on shell.
The cake is adorned with ribbons and pink pearls.

Ladies received a small wreath
to remebrer the party...:)

How about use it near curtains? I think it is perfect! :)

Cameos are obviously not all the same as they were made by hand with a very simple manufacturing that allows its use in ceremonies, parties and gadgets.

Many thanks for your visit!:)

February Tea Time

Edith Holden
I can not resist to show you this beautiful mimosa that shines in our garden!
I'm thinking that whatever man creates nothing can be as wonderful as
the gifts of mother nature gives us!:)

Of course my cup of tea on February could not be without these wonderful flowers...

...I think the yellow mimosa flowers are perfect near
the violet flowers of the cup and saucer...

and ...the white fairy is a good company for a cup of tea!:)

Many thanks for your visit and
have a good afternoon tea with many beautiful poems to read! :)

Tea with a Queen

Today my tea cup is inspired by ...

Mary Stuart Queen of Scots
Mary Queen of Scots source

Mary Queen of Scots 1542-1587 also known as Mary Stuart or Mary I of Scotland, was queen regnant of Scotland from 14 December 1542 to 24 July 1567. Mary spent most of her childhood in France whilst Scotland was ruled by regents, and in 1558, she married Francis, Dauphin of France. Vivacious, beautiful, and clever, Mary had a promising childhood. She was considered a pretty child and later, as a woman, strikingly attractive.

Mary Stuart Queen of Scots

Welcome at my afternoon tea with ...

...a Queen...

... a whisky jug...pardon...a "finest old scotch whisky" tea pot ...:)

...a scottish marmalade...

...a crown ...and a book about the Queen life...

....an heather plant...

...a castle ...
...Eliean Donan ...
(this castle is not related to the story of Mary
but it is one of the most beautiful castle of Scontland and one of my favorites!:)

...and finally a tea towels with beautiful castles...!:)

...Many thank for your visit!:)

Valentine's Day: a coffee for two

Welcome at a Valentine's Day Coffee Time.
I was inspired  by love and hearths to create my small coffee valentine's house corner.
The picture I showed above is not a postcards but a delicious paintings by hand bought at a flea market months ago. The author is non mentioned. I think It is perfect for this day!:)

My new sugar bowl has small pink flowers but the peculiarity of this coffee set is the small plates under the cups. They have a heart shape! Lovely and perfect for Valentine's day!!:)

This pair of porcelain perhaps I have already shown in this blog but I love it so much that I like to show it again!

It has a Volsted Rudolstadt Mark used after 1898.

Porzellanfabrik Karl Ens
Finally... a small armchair with a pillow that could not be without hearts!

Many thanks for your visit and...

Tea with Jane

"Jane Austen loved tea"
The beginning of Kim Wilson book "Tea with Jane Austen"
inspired me for this afternoon tea.

"Jane Austen amava il tè!
Ho tratto ispirazione per il mio angolo del tè dal bellissimo libro
"Tea with Jane" di Kim Wilson.

From Tea with Jane Austen, Kim Wilson, Jones Books
"Jane Austen was in charge of making her family's breakfast every morning, including the most important part of breakfast: the tea" (...)
(Tea with Jane Austen, Kim Wilson, Jones Books)

In the background "My Dear Cassandra" a beautiful  color book which contains many beautiful illustrations and texts from letters to her sister

The inkpot was a gift for my degree and a cammeo is my precious  handmade jewel dedicated to Jane Austen

I love the Tea set for its shape and colors that expresses
simplicity and elegance at the same time!

"Tea was a welcome diversion due to the long gap after the early dinner hour of the time,
and it was sometimes accompained by a tray of solid eatables".
(from "My Dear Cassandra"  Letters to her sister selected and introduced
by Penelope Huges-Hallet)

I've bought the yellow figurine at Portobello Market many years ago.
It made me think Jane ad her fashion dress!

Some Jane Austen book...
My last purchase has been "In the garden with Jane Austen" by Kim Wilson.
Beautiful! Soon I'll write a post about it!!

Qualche libro di Jane Austen ...
Il mio ultimo acquisto è stato "In the garden with Jane Austen" sempre di Kim Wilson.

Bellissimo! Presto scriverò un post a riguardo!

The little house is a carillon bought at an english flea market.
Does it seem Chawton Cottage?? May be for its colors...:)

Jane Austen House at Chawton
Some months ago I made this felt Jane Austen . I love create it!

Many thanks for your visit! :)
Quote and images are from these books....

"Tea with Jane Austen
by Kim Wilson

A well researched history of Ausen-era tea drinking at
different times of day and in different settings.
It shares the secrets of the drinking in Regency Period  with verses, recipes, quotations charmingly illustrated.

"My Dear Cassandra"
Letters to her sister selected and introduced
by Penelope Huges-Hallet

The book "My Dear Cassandra", contains most of the surviving letters from Jane Austen to her sister Cassandra. The letters are all written between 1796 and Jane's death in 1817 and contain a wealth of information about their lives at that time. The book has illustrations and paintings depicting the fashion, transport, people and places.
